PGA National in Just installed 30 charging outlets with ChargeNode's classy beam solution. A smart bet that increases the attraction value and provides safe electric car charging for visitors.

We know by now that more and more electric car drivers are increasing on the roads, and in connection with this, it has also created a great attraction value for Sweden's golf clubs to be able to offer electric car charging to their visitors.
We had a chat with Jonas Edberg, CEO at PGA National to gain insight into how they reasoned in the decision-making process when investing in electric car charging for their golf facility.
There are many companies today that offer electric car charging. How did you choose ChargeNode?
— We examined several different companies and what they could offer, I had seen ChargeNodes smart charging system at another golf resort and found the installation neat, simple and efficient. For us, aesthetics were also important and that the installation would harmonize with our environment and we did not want charging boxes everywhere in our parking.
What was it like working with ChargeNode during the project from contract to deployed system?
— It was very easy, we got help with all the parts, from choosing the right installation to apply for a grant for the installation It felt safe from the start.
What type of installation did you choose for your plant?
“We have a solution based on a stylish aluminum beam clad in a wood-like composite material. 30 discrete charging outlets are integrated into the beam and it turned out really nice!
How did you come to the decision to install many charging points at your facility? Not all visitors come by electric car these days, do they?
“The number of electric cars is increasing on our roads, our members and customers have many electric cars and we did not want to get into a situation where we cannot offer electric car charging to our visitors. Everyone who visits us now has an opportunity to charge their car which was important to us both for our attraction value, and also for our long-term sustainability work at our facilities.
Installing electric car charging has been shown to attract more visitors, is that something you noticed?
“We can see an increase in the number of guests who visit us to have lunch and at the same time take the opportunity to charge their car. Many of our guests give us good and positive feedback because we just have a lot of chargers and that they feel safe to always have a place with us.
How do you think our customer portal and app work?
— The ChargeNodes app is easy to use, once you have downloaded it and added your debit card, you just have to load it. No operational disruptions to any appreciable extent either, which creates a sense of security for both us and our customers.
What would you recommend others to consider who are faced with investing in charging points at their facility? What is important to consider?
“It is important to choose a supplier that can distribute power in a good way between all cars. Do not invest in too few chargers, it does not differ so much in the investment. Customer benefit is more important to us than saving money in the short term.

ChargeNode was founded in 2018 with the conviction that new technological solutions with smarter resource utilization are required to solve today's challenges of large-scale electrification. Today, the company is a fast-growing greentech company based in Gothenburg. The company offers smart charging systems for large-scale electric vehicle charging based on proprietary and patent-pending charging technology. By centralizing charging technology, charging can be distributed to multiple parking locations without the need for a separate charger at each parking location. With smart steering, e.g. at departure time, cars with short parking time can be charged first and then those that need to stand longer. Everyone gets the charge they desire.
