ChargeNode has installed six charging points at Hornavan Hotell in Arjeplog — our northernmost charging point. This is where Europe's automotive industry meets for winter testing and sustainable travel.

Do you long for the north? Welcome to Arjeplog, our northernmost charging point, where Europe's automotive industry tests future models in the harshest winter conditions.
Swedish and foreign visitors come to Hornavan in Arjpelog municipality in Lapland for wildlife tourism and mountain views. But even though Hornavan is Sweden's deepest lake, it's the surface most people come for.
Mile after mile on ice
The stable winter cold and reliable ice have made Arjeplog and Hornavan one of the world's top destinations for winter car testing. Here come test drivers, engineers and winter guests from BMW, Volkswagen, Audi, Ferrari and many more to take advantage of the uplifted ice rinks on the lake.
Hotels with charging
Then a good overnight stay is needed and that's why Hornavan Hotell was founded. Since 2019 it is run by Anders Söderberg and his wife Kristin. During the summer of 2025, six ChargeNode charging points were installed to meet an increasing demand for charging and to reinforce the hotel's sustainable profile.
“We have seen more and more guests come with electric cars. Previously, we only had three chargers, which was often not enough. Now we have expanded with six charging outlets and are ready to meet demand in the future,” says Anders Söderberg, co-owner of Hornavan Hotell.
Aesthetically pleasing
The installation in Arjeplog is ChargeNode's northernmost project to date, and with winter temperatures below -40 degrees, it is an important indicator of technical reliability.
“We chose ChargeNode to get a stable technical solution and a clear pricing model. In addition, the hardware is aesthetically pleasing and fits our environment. The fact that we didn't have to pull cables across the facade was a big plus,” Anders says.
A modern offer
For him and the team, the ambition is clear: the hotel should be a year-round destination.
“We want guests to stay overnight, not just stay in. Offering electric car charging is about meeting modern needs, but also about contributing to a more sustainable journey,” he says.
Growing needs
The new charging points began to be used as soon as they were put into operation. In the run-up to winter, a major carmaker has already booked up five out of six charging points — so more may be needed soon.
“I expect that we will continue to grow with ChargeNode,” says Anders Söderberg.
