Environment and sustainability

For a changing society

We started ChargeNode with the conviction to drive the transition from fossil-powered to electric-powered cars.
And we're well on our way.

kWh

Every month we deliver power-smart electric car charging equivalent to over 600 trips around the world. There will be more trips to come. All for a sustainable future.

200,000

More and more people are offering ChargeNodes charging and more people are downloading our app. Right now, at least 200,000 motorists are charging their electric cars in our charging stations.

24/7

We answer the phone 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

+

60,000

We are driving the development of Swedish infrastructure for electric car charging. Every day we carry out new installations and currently we have over 60,000 outlets.

Sustainable transport. Durable charging.

Thanks to revolutionary innovations, an efficient manufacturing process and close cooperation with our suppliers, we can develop products and services that help more people choose to run on electricity.

We work with long-term sustainable solutions for transportation. We are some way off. The goal is always to use the best possible materials and manufacturing processes. We follow up, we question, we document, we ensure that both software and hardware meet all the requirements of security, ease of use and the least possible burden on the environment. All in order to accelerate the transition from fossil-fuel to electric-powered vehicles. The road ahead has both tight curves and some sluggish uphills. But we push on and challenge.

A smart charging service is an important tool for using the grid efficiently and spreading electricity usage across the clock.

Electricity network companies are forced to introduce power-based pricing to create incentives for their customers to distribute their electricity use over time. This is to avoid power peaks that can lead to problems in the electrical system. Power-based pricing means higher grid costs if you use a lot of electricity at the same time. Our charging service is based on departure time and charges cars in turn to avoid those peaks and extra costs.

If we use the electricity grid efficiently, it helps ensure that society's electricity needs can be met at the lowest possible cost.

Thanks for that Hydro.

For many years we have been using Hydro CIRCAL in the ChargeNode PowerBar. Hydro CIRCAL is made with at least 75% recycled aluminium scrap.

Why Hydro CIRCAL?
  • The proportion of aluminium scrap in Hydro CIRCAL is guaranteed to be at least 75%.
  • Using recycled aluminum in the production process means that a lower amount of heat (and therefore energy) is generated.
  • When we talk about 75% recycled material, we refer exclusively to aluminium that has reached its useful life as a product that is used and brought back to the circuit via recycling. It could be aluminum from demolished building projects, food and beverage containers, or even cars.

Total review of our charging center

Thanks to Schneider Electric Co. and BS Electrical Control so we can now see a total climate footprint for our charging center.

As electric car charging has evolved, many consumers have questions about the climate footprint. Not easy to answer because there has rarely been anything to start from. But now we and Schneider Electric have developed a complete CO2 calculation of the control systems used for charging electric cars.

Each component, from the battery to the internet router, has a climate profile that makes it possible to calculate the exact climate impact, both for each individual component and for the appliance cabinet as a whole. The lifetime footprint of the cabinet is estimated at 1650 kg of CO2 and each charging outlet has a climate footprint of 82.5 kg* (*calculated on an installation with 20 outlets). In this way, we can create awareness about sustainability and, not least, get good conditions for improvement.

Sustainability work never ends

We work hard to develop the sustainability of all parts of our offer. Smarter solutions, better materials and including all the components we use. The plan going forward is to continue our work for a sustainable future. In collaboration with our fantastic suppliers, we work on these issues daily. Without their commitment and willingness to change, this would not have been possible. Thank you!
