Annika Abraham takes over the helm after Niklas Berg at ChargeNode

Annika Abraham takes over as CEO of ChargeNode after Niklas Berg. With a focus on sustainable growth and smart charging solutions, ChargeNode continues to lead electrification in Sweden.

ChargeNode makes a couple of minor management changes. Annika Abraham, who has been CFO since the end of 2019/2020, takes over the CEO role after Niklas Berg who continues as CEO of ChargeNode Group.

Annika Abraham has a history in finance, partly in fast-growing growth companies such as Avinode and Greenbyte and for the last four years ChargeNode, but also as a chartered accountant at PwC. With experience in managing and developing payment flows and a deep understanding of scaling and driving software development in transaction-intensive companies, there is naturally a clear focus on green numbers and ChargeNode's charging and payment service.

“We have worked together for 13 years at several fast-growing companies and Annika is a well-liked leader and colleague who is cut and cut to continue leading the company's growth journey, not least for her unique ability to balance the accuracy of an accountant with innovative entrepreneurship,” says Niklas Berg, who is now handing over the CEO position to Annika.

How do you see developments in electric car charging?
“Historically, we have focused on our proprietary hardware,” Annika explains. However, in recent years we have seen an increased interest in the software and payment flows. Today, it is a matter of course that customers want a smooth solution with minimal administration and secure payments. And we can offer an incredibly smart overall solution, whether they have their own hardware or whether we supply our charging post with lighting and beam solution.

-Sure, electric car sales have slowed down at the moment, but it is, after all, a constant evolution of electrification in society. Maybe things don't go as fast as we would like. Personally, I think it was unfortunate that the government removed the electric car subsidy.
After all, as more and more people switch from a fossil-powered car to an electric car, our movement patterns in terms of car ownership are also changing. You want to be able to charge the car at home when the electricity price is low and you assume that there should be the possibility of charging when you arrive at a destination, either when you are on the road or coming by car to work. The charging infrastructure is one of the most important parameters of buying an electric car. And there, ChargeNode can contribute to a faster rollout.

What makes ChargeNode an obvious partner?
-In an industry with many new entrants, ChargeNode stands out with all the experience and knowledge available in the company. Since we have developed both hardware and software, there is a deep knowledge in all areas. Over time, we have built a tremendous skill set. With almost 40,000 charging points, most of which we have installed ourselves, ChargeNode is able to offer a complete solution that works incredibly smoothly, we also learn more and more about our customers and what they demand.

-We have done something that no one else has done. We have developed cutting-edge technology, with low maintenance costs over time and that reduces power peaks. Think sustainably, simply. But we are not sitting still. ChargeNode is based on entrepreneurship, which is reflected in our daily work, we are constantly striving for new innovative solutions. ChargeNode is quick-footed and customer-focused, and we accomplish a lot with relatively small resources.

How do you personally view your new assignment?
-I have a great responsibility to build a profitable business. We will operate a sustainable and long-term business with green numbers, for the sake of our employees, our customers, shareholders and suppliers. I will be driving the efforts to further develop our pricing mechanisms and automated and digitised processes. We refine our solutions to create even more safety and security for our customers.

-I must say that it is very stimulating to work together with the incredibly dedicated and skilled employees of the Chargenode team. We are innovative in many different areas and do very well for the development of our industry. What is unique about ChargeNode is that we take overall responsibility for electric car charging. And it makes life so much easier for customers. So it's really inspiring to take over the helm of one of the leading charging operators in Sweden. We are well equipped to continue to lead the electrification of our community.
