ChargeNode acquires Opigo - becomes one of the largest in electric car charging

ChargeNode acquires Opigo and becomes one of Sweden's largest charging operators with over 12,000 charging points. Together we offer complete and scalable charging solutions for all needs.

ChargeNode Group, a fast-growing player in large-scale electric vehicle charging, acquires Opigo AB and thus becomes one of Sweden's largest charging operators with over 12,000 charging points.

“The acquisition is strategically important and strengthens ChargeNode's leading role in large-scale electric vehicle charging. With Opigo, we become a comprehensive charging partner that can tailor large-scale charging solutions based on each customer's unique needs,” says Kristian Sandahl, CEO of ChargeNode Group.

Opigo, founded in 2019, has established itself in a short time as a leading charging partner to condominium associations and business customers in need of large-scale electric vehicle charging systems. The company's concept of “Carefree Electric Vehicle Charging” involves taking overall responsibility including design, installation and operation of charging points. The company's proprietary software EVCore currently operates over 7000 charging points and it is a reseller of charging boxes from several leading manufacturers.

“The acquisition means that Opigo will be able to offer ChargeNode charging systems and we will be the first in Sweden to offer both charging boxes and ChargeNode solutions in a common charging service for customers,” says Magnus Lind, CEO of Opigo.

ChargeNode Group also owns ChargeNode Europe AB, which offers smart and reliable charging systems for large-scale electric vehicle charging based on a proprietary and patent-pending charging technology. The technology reduces operating costs but also enables more aesthetically pleasing charging points.

ChargeNode Europe AB will continue to offer ChargeNode's charging system, but here too, the charging service is made compatible with third-party hardware to enable new customers with existing charging points to build on ChargeNode's charging system without the need for two software services to administer, charge and operate their charging infrastructure.

The ambition is for a common software and charging service to be deployed by the end of 2022.

Kristian Sandahl, CEO ChargeNode Group AB: “Opigo is a perfect complement to ChargeNode's own offering for large-scale charging systems. Together, our customers can always get the best charging solution whether it involves traditional charging boxes, ChargeNode charging systems or a combination of both. The team at Opigo has in a short period of time built a strong market position as a leading charging operator and we are incredibly excited to welcome Opigo as part of our rapidly growing group of companies.”

Magnus Lind, CEO Opigo: “As a charging operator, our mission is to simplify our customers' everyday lives by offering a charging service that works without worry regardless of the hardware they choose to install. We have long been impressed by ChargeNode's charging solution in terms of aesthetics and operational economy, so we see great value in now being able to offer their solution to our customers as well.”
