The answer, of course, is a resounding yes.
Now is really the time to invest in electric car charging. Progress is fast — both in terms of technology and accessibility — and the environment must be benefitted in every way.
Sales of electric cars are ticking on well, and fewer and fewer motorists are considering petrol or diesel. The growth of rechargeable cars was about 22% in 2025, which is lower than the record year but still stable. The total rechargeable vehicle fleet passed 700,000 vehicles by year-end 2025/2026, including light trucks and buses.
By November 2025, electric cars accounted for 40.4 per cent of new car registrations and charging hybrids for 25%. Full-year share of electric cars was 35.9%, which is an increase from 2024 but still below the 40% target.
The industry expects electric cars to reach about 50% of new car sales in 2026, assuming that instruments such as the new electric car premium come into place.
By the time 2025 ended, there were just over 40,000 public charging points in Sweden, an increase of approximately 80% compared to the previous year. However, according to National Association M there are still over 25,000 charging poles missing to meet demand.
Recession and long delivery times have slowed progress. The electric car bonus disappeared in 2022, and the new electric car premium has been delayed by the EU approval process. France has introduced targeted aid to low-income workers — something that Mobility Sweden I think Sweden needs it too.
The forecast points to 3 million rechargeable vehicles by 2030, and between 75—100% of new car sales will be electric. But even if all cars were electric cars, it would only marginally affect electricity generation. The problem is power peaks -- if everyone is charging at the same time. That's why smart charging with dynamic load balancing and departure-based charging crucial. With ChargeNode's solution, BRFs and companies can avoid high power charges and save up to SEK 40,000 per year.
Installation and operation have become much smoother. ChargeNode offers a total solution where the customer only determines the price per kWh — the rest is handled automatically via app and portal.
