Trumpet Road's Samubilitet charges worry-free with 137 charging outlets

Sweden's communities are facing a challenge as more and more people choose electric cars and electric car charging has gone from being an innovation to becoming an established value driver, increasing the value of communities with charging capability. Michael Nygaard, Vice Chairman of Trumpet Road Communion in Järfälla, carried out a structured procurement when they invested in electric car charging for their community. Together with ChargeNode, they installed charging outlets in all of their 137 garage locations.

How were the discussions about installing electric car charging in your community, and why did you make that decision?
“We were going to do a major renovation on our garages and upgrade the electrical installation to today's standard and then it felt like a good time to also install electric car charging. There had been a request from quite a few residents for a while and we also noticed that those who had electric cars were trying to find their own charging solutions at their residence. It left cars parked where they weren't supposed to be and felt like a risk. We had also heard from brokers about stakeholders at screenings who turned in the door when they found out there was no electric car charging. So we understood that there was an important investment opportunity here. A survey conducted by the association showed that more than 70% were in favor of doing the installation, although only about 30% had an electric car at the time, says Michael.

How did you go about finding alternative charging partners?
“We looked around several different suppliers and solutions and found three companies that felt interesting. We received offers from all of them to take a position on and chose to proceed with ChargeNode and another supplier. We invited representatives from both companies and let them tell the residents about their respective solution so that everyone could decide for themselves what was best for our community. After that, we had an internal discussion in the community.

Why did the choice fall on ChargeNode?
“We landed that ChargeNode felt like a better investment in terms of cost for the residents and we liked you very much charging and payment service which included, among other things, an invoicing service, which caused us on the board to avoid all administration.

What type of installation did you choose for your association?
We were advised to install ChargeNode Power Bar which is a beam suspended on the wall and fit best in our case. We installed sockets in all garages, which made a total of 137 pcs.

How has the collaboration with ChargeNode worked?
“The collaboration has worked very well and carefree. We appreciated that our contact person really relied on expert knowledge and has been solution-oriented when obstacles have arisen. We liked that it had very good statistics and information videos that helped us in the community to understand all the elements.

What tips do you have for other companies that are going to install electric car charging?
“We thought it was good to present two different solutions to the residents of the community and make them involved in the decision. We felt that they appreciated that we were transparent and that the decision was taken together.

Trumpetvägens Samfälisforening was founded in 1980. The association comprises 169 properties mixed between detached villas and townhouses located in Hummelmora, Viksjö in Järfälla Municipality. They have two community spaces and playgrounds on almost every alley/street.
