HSB Brf Giant in Kalmar installed 30 charging points using ChargeNode. We had a chat with Anders Carming, Chairman, and Krister Björnerman, Secretary of Brf Jätten, to hear how they reasoned in the decision-making process around investing in electric car charging for their association.

Tell me, how were the discussions about installing electric car charging in your brf,
and why did you make that decision?
“It started with a request from a resident who planned to buy an electric car. How do we look at this, we asked the board? We are usually at the forefront of environmental and technology solutions so we probed the terrain among the residents via surveys and it turned out that there was a great need.

How did you go about finding alternative charging partners?
“We networked with other HSB associations about how they had done and then we brought in a consultant from HSB Sydost who did a procurement among three companies. After evaluation, we found a supplier that suited us according to our needs — ChargeNode.

Why did the choice fall on ChargeNode?
— What determined that we chose ChargeNode was the smart software and that most of it is managed by ChargeNode instead of the housing association — we thought it was good!

How has the collaboration with ChargeNode worked?
“We decided to start work on the charging points and installed 30 Zaptec Pro charging boxes, 10 in the garage and 20 outdoors. After the work was completed, ChargeNode has been contacted and followed up several times, this to see that everything worked smoothly.

What tips do you have for other condominium associations who are going to install electric car charging?
“Our best tip is to talk to other associations that have installed charging points to hear other people's challenges and experiences. But we also believe that it is important to build for the future and dare to take part in terms of the number of charging points, so that you are equipped for the future.

How do you tell about the future and the need for electric car charging in your brf?
“We chose to increase the height by making the main cable larger and installed a ground cabinet that is prepared to be able to feed significantly more chargers in the future when we were up and running, then we are better equipped when demand increases.
