Fully charged cars in a timely manner - without expensive grid expansion

ChargeNode makes load balancing smarter: electricity is distributed according to departure time and need, saving money and avoiding power peaks. This is how intelligent charging works.

Load balancing is an important part of electric car charging. That means cars that are being charged part on the electricity so as not to overload the property's fuses. Important, but it can be done much smarter than that. ChargeNode's platform offers smart load balancing that allows electricity to be distributed according to the needs of each car based on the scheduled departure time.

How does load balancing work?

Let's take an example: Five electric cars are supposed to charge at the same time, but the BRF property only has enough electric power for three. What's going on? With regular load balancing, everyone gets some power all night long -- slowly and inefficiently. With ChargeNode, priority is given to the cars that need to go first. These can then get a full charge right away. Others who are not in a hurry, or already have half-full batteries, can instead be charged slowly and gently.

ChargeNode's platform can also wait to charge the cars if the electricity price or power tariff is high. By optimizing based on charging amount and departure time, each car can be charged at the lowest possible cost.

We have different systems that we adapt to your requirements. Our system charges 3, 9 or however many vehicles depending on what fits best. We help you optimize the charge according to the available power. Here shows examples of 3 charges.

Charging as needed, not by turn. Here's how it works:

  • You enter your departure time in the ChargeNodes app
  • Early Departure Cars Get Priority and Full Power
  • Cars standing longer charge more slowly, as capacity is freed up
  • Everyone is ready when they need to go

Financially

With Sweden's upcoming power-based grid tariffs (2027), ChargeNode's time optimization can save customers thousands of SEK per year by avoiding expensive power peaks.

“By combining power control with departure time, we provide full charging security for both car owners and property owners — without excessive grid costs.”

— Kristian Sandahl, Founder and Chief Technical Officer, ChargeNode

Summary

With ChargeNode, load balancing becomes intelligent. We don't just share power — we optimize it to meet real needs. That way, everyone gets the right charge at the right time — without the need to expand the grid. In addition, charging can be done at the lowest possible cost.
