How the Charge Car support works

The state subsidizes the installation of chargers. Here's a handy guide on how to seek and maximize support.

Med Charge the car support You can get up to 15,000 SEK in grants per charging point. From February 1, 2026, new, improved rules will take effect, abolishing the previous cap and opening up more charging opportunities. The Charge the Car grant from the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency is an important investment aid aimed at accelerating the deployment of charging infrastructure at workplaces, in apartment buildings and in business areas.

These are the most important news (Valid from February 1, 2026)

The updated rules make it easier and more profitable to invest in larger charging solutions:

  • Increased total support: The previous ceiling of €300,000 per group over three years is being removed. This allows for significantly greater strategic investments in charging infrastructure.
  • Expanded Audience: Support now also includes chargers for guest parking/customer places as well as charging for the company's own business vehicles (e.g. courier cars, home service or taxi).
  • Differentiated level of support: The level of aid as a percentage of the cost will vary in the future depending on the size of the company (small, medium or large enterprises).

Financial information

The grant will continue to cover part of the total installation cost. The maximum you can get SEK 15,000 per charging point.

What is covered by the grant? The aid covers the costs of charging boxes and charging stations, all installation, electrical work, digging and other necessary peripherals.

Basic technical requirements: In order for the grant to be granted, charging points must meet certain conditions, including:

  • Installation must be carried out by a competent electrical installation company.
  • The charging points should have Type 2 sockets.
  • The charging points must have the possibility of electricity metering and charging.

NOTE! An absolute requirement for the grant

A crucial rule of the new regulatory framework is that The application must be submitted to the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency before the installation work begins.

The application should always be made in two steps:

  1. Application for grants: You apply and get the grant reserved.
  2. Installation & Payout Request: When the installation is complete, a cashout request will be sent in.
