3G network decommissioning — affecting your charging box

The Swedish 3G network is now being dismantled. The shutdown is gradual and parts of the network have already been shut down. In the near future, the remaining parts will be phased out completely. For those who have a charging box with 3G connection, this means that communication will soon cease.

Why is connectivity important?

A charging box needs to be online to allow you to:

  • Start charging through the app
  • Access payment features and statistics
  • Ensure operational monitoring and remote troubleshooting for safe management

If the connection is lost, in some cases you can start charging with RFID tag — assuming the tag has already been linked to the box before. However, the functionality becomes limited.

What happens if my charging box loses connection?

When the box is no longer connected, we as the charging operator cannot reach it for service or updates. Then a physical visit by a service technician is required to upgrade the communication to 4G.

Please note: The upgrade will only take place if you as a customer have approved the operation. It is thus not an automatic or free upgrade.
